Newest in Socials

So much is constantly changing in the world of social media on a daily basis, it can begin to feel overwhelming as a user trying to keep up with it all, so we have put together a few key updates that have occurred over the last month or perhaps are up and coming.

For those of you who are avid Snapchat users, you’ll be pleased to know that Snapchat is enabling users to restore their ‘snap streaks’ if you happen to forget to send your bestie a daily snap.

Now this next one is exciting for business owners, in particular and those who are trying to break into the industry of influencer marketing. Meta have introduced ‘Meta verified’ to help businesses establish their presence on socials. Meta verified introduces government ID, exclusive features and also will help increase visibility and search recommendations to help gain more attraction to your brand. Sounds exciting!

From March 16, Instagram will be permanently shutting down the live shopping feature for users and focusing more so on other features already existing on the app. Following on from the closure of Facebook Live Shopping last October.

Twitter fans are now able to write larger posts on the platform with the introduction of tweets of 4,000 characters. For those of you who use Twitter will find this as a great improvement, as sometimes when you have a lot to say you will find yourself posting multiple tweets in a row. Now, you will be able to express those thoughts and opinions in one succinct post.

Who would have thought that Gen Z would be so into Pinterest? Well, the platform has recently experienced a growth in popularity with 5 million new active users - particularly Gen Z being the fastest growing demographic.

Again, we see TikTok, social media giant, continue to thrive. Now sharing insights into the best performing products on the app based on user generated content. This is huge news for business owners, particularly those wanting to break into the market and gain brand exposure. We have also seen engagement continue to increase on TikTok while we have seen a steady decrease on Instagram, most likely as a result of this.

However, reels on Instagram have now taken over carousels on Instagram as the most engaging content on the platform. Perhaps this is largely influenced by the popular style of content circulating on TikTok.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term ‘de-influencing’, now is the time to learn. This has become a huge trend on social media especially on TikTok with creators essentially ‘de-influecing’ products or popular places or trends. Possibly not the best trend if your brand happens to be mentioned, what do you think of this?

LinkedIn is proving to be an ever growing social medium, particularly with younger generations looking to network, search for new exciting job opportunities and to keep in the loop with the professional world.

Lastly, something to look forward to in the upcoming months is the new broadcasting feature coming to Instagram - we are intrigued to see how this new element will fit into the platform.
